The global crossover brings Stranger Things and Stranger Things: Tales From '85 together in a digital game collaboration for the first time.

GLOBAL (excluding Mainland China) - August 7, 2026

Stranger Things is coming to Top Heroes at a milestone moment for the franchise.

As Stranger Things celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2026, and following the April 23 premiere of animated series Stranger Things: Tales From '85 on Netflix, River Game's fantasy strategy RPG is teaming up with the franchise for a limited-time global collaboration running from August 7 to September 30, 2026.

The collaboration marks several firsts: River Game's first collaboration with Netflix, the first digital game collaboration to feature Stranger Things and Stranger Things: Tales From '85 together and the first-ever digital game collaboration for the Stranger Things: Tales From '85 brand.

When Two Worlds Collide

The story begins when out-of-control energy tears through the world of Top Heroes, opening a connection between the two dimensions that the monsters use to launch an invasion.

Facing an Upside Down crisis, players fight alongside Eleven, Mike, Lucas, and Dustin to rescue Will, resist the invasion, and find a way to close the rift before the world is destroyed.

Rather than recreating an existing Stranger Things plot, the event translates familiar characters, relationships, and supernatural conflicts into a new story built around Top Heroes' existing universe.

Stranger Things, Reimagined Through Top Heroes

Top Heroes combines hero collection, combat, exploration and world-building, giving Stranger Things room to become part of the gameplay rather than remain a cosmetic add-on.

Instead of reproducing the IP characters literally, recognizable identities are reinterpreted through Top Heroes' stylized visual and gameplay language.

One example is Will's interpretation within the Top Heroes roster, where an existing hero Soulmancer's support skill, originally involving a visual link to teammates to provide a beneficial buff, is reimagined through Will's skin. In this version, the link is replaced by a strand of glowing fairy lights, visually echoing Will's connection to the Stranger Things world while preserving the original gameplay function of strengthening allies through linkage and support.

The approach reflects the wider creative principle behind the collaboration: preserve what makes Stranger Things recognizable while translating it into the gameplay grammar of Top Heroes.

What Players Can Experience

During the collaboration, players can experience:

Stranger Things-inspired hero skins adapted to Top Heroes combat archetypes

Iconic supernatural threats, including the Demodog and Demogorgon

Themed environments, building skins, decorations, and UI elements

A new crossover storyline connecting Top Heroes with the Upside Down

Event and gameplay content inspired by the franchise

Authentic music, including the Stranger Things Theme Song and Kids

Together, these elements bring the franchise into Top Heroes through combat, exploration, progression, storytelling and sound.

Why the Collaboration Fits

Both Top Heroes and Stranger Things are built around groups of heroes coming together to face threats far bigger than themselves. That shared foundation makes the collaboration feel natural, giving Stranger Things characters, creatures, environments and story elements meaningful roles within Top Heroes' RPG and strategy gameplay.

The crossover also creates strong opportunities for storytelling and exploration. The mystery and danger of the Upside Down translate naturally into new environments, enemies and event-driven gameplay while Top Heroes' ensemble-based structure provides a strong platform for bringing the relationships and character dynamics of Stranger Things into the player experience.

Launching during the franchise's 10th anniversary year and following the debut of Stranger Things Tales From '85 gives the collaboration additional relevance, creating a timely way for existing fans and new audiences to engage with the expanding Stranger Things universe through an interactive experience.
